5 Ways Success Favors Those Who Stop to Rest

5 Ways Success Favors Those Who Stop to Rest

By Mary Lyn Miller

Whaaaat!!???  REST!

Don’t be silly.  Every solid American knows success and happiness is always the result of “hard work and diligence.”

I don’t know about you, but when I think of hard work, I don’t think of success and joy; I think of exhaustion, sleeplessness, and burnout.  That’s the route I took for years.

My experience is that women are especially vulnerable to exhaustion.  In addition to “employee”, women can also be: baby-carrier, babysitter, social calendar organizer, home cleaner, menu planner, cook, laundress, decorator, bookkeeper and much more.

Today there are many men who will relate to this as well.   Let’s face it, we are all tired.

As a coach who has mentored clients to achieve their desired success for over 3 decades, I know you need a real plan to deal with this stress.   My guru on this subject is my former client, friend, and licensed guide, Helen Hodgson, who has a remarkable process that gives you all the benefits of rest in 30-40 minutes.

This is worth knowing about, right!

Most importantly it helps regulate your nervous system – which is important because it helps relieve chronic stress and emotional instability!  (There’s a lot of that going around lately!)  But here are 5 more benefits:

  • Stress and Anxiety Reduction
  • Improved Sleep Quality
  • Enhanced Cognitive Function
  • Increased Self-Awareness
  • Reduced Pain and Inflammation

Do I practice this amazing thing?   YES, of course.

But even better, Helen has an amazing retreat next month that will not only teach you the core of this practice (called Yoga Nidra, but it’s nothing like yoga) but will allow you to experience true deep rest that can not only transform you, but help you to leave with renewed vitality, greater clarity, self-trust, and tools to improve your life at home.

And closer relationships from some of the women you meet!  Groups are small so you meet everyone, and having gone to numerous retreats led by Helen, I always ended up with women with whom I bonded.

One more thing: there’s drama and entertainment as it is close to Halloween, and Helen is a marvelous storyteller and entertainer. She’s calling it a “witchy” retreat.  So fun.

Want to know more?  Be sure to check it out before it closes.

And, get some rest!!
