As a coach who helps professionals delve deeper into what really drives them and creating positive outcomes in life transitions & career decisions, I am aware of what a powerful strategy passion can be!!
But isn’t talking about “passion” a little lightweight with today’s concerns and world chaos? Shouldn’t we be focused on fixing THAT!! (Let me know when you have that solution, and we’ll talk!) But I also think today’s issues makes it more important than ever to get clear on our higher goals and aspirations.
Because, as I’ve commented before,
“Passion is one of the most powerful forces in the Universe –
and Attracts Good in our Lives.”
Why do I think passion is so powerful? I believe it saved my life – in what looked like an impossible situation. I was a very young female executive in a Fortune 500 company, but feeling trapped and frustrated by the very things that were making me look so successful. I was not a corporate style gal, and was super unhappy, but had no idea how to get out. Everyone, including family, despite long hours and continually getting ill, thought I’d be crazy to quit.
Eventually was diagnosed with a large malignant tumor in my bladder which changed everything for me. My prognosis was grim; I needed 2 surgeries, and in the first one they took out one of the largest tumors they had ever removed from a bladder in the history of that hospital. It looked certain my time was limited.
For some reason I don’t even understand, having no idea how long I’d be living, I made the decision to do something “passionate” every day for as long as I lived – thinking, of course, it might be much shorter. By the time I got to my second surgery months later, they could not find any cancer and the doctors were amazed. “Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it,” was the official response.
It has since become my spiritual and occupational path, and I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to spend the past 3 decades in service to that idea. It’s been my joy to help so many people and companies all over the world embrace a more passionate and purposeful approach to life and career – and to their own “recovery” in some way – because passion is a strategy!

(No, I don’t get anything for promoting it.)
I want to say this was NOT specifically a “career” decision or even a “life” or “relationship” decision. It was a shift in my psyche that fundamentally changed how I saw and reacted to everything and has given me what I feel is a gifted life under almost any circumstance. It’s not that I haven’t faced challenges and losses, but this practice keeps me even keeled. I still practice this today.
